History

In 1897 German-born Siegfried Cronheim established “Siegfried Cronheim Real Estate” at the corner of Broad and Market Streets in downtown Newark, New Jersey. Siegfried’s policy of personalized service became the foundation for the company’s success.

Siegfried’s son, David, followed in his father’s tradition, taking bold steps to meet the needs of the ever changing real estate market. During the depression, David created Cronheim Management Services to aid lenders and investors with properties in receivership.

Following World War II, David Cronheim Company became one of the largest residential brokers in New Jersey. David Cronheim, individually, and as a general partner also took the company into office and shopping center development as well as into other types of real estate development and investment. Workout plans were developed and tailored for each individual property, whether it was an apartment house, industrial plant or office tower. Recommendations and quick follow through by Cronheim transformed “problem properties” into positive performers.

In 1971, corporate headquarters was relocated to Chatham, New Jersey, where Robert D. Cronheim, Chief Executive Officer and Broker-of-Record, continues to meet the needs of the dynamic real estate market.

Specializing in commercial brokerage, managing and financing, Robert provides a wide range of services for companies of all sizes located in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and across the country. He consults with landlords on problem properties, advises lenders on mortgage placement and problem loans, manages industrial, office, retail and apartment properties for a variety of investors and corporations, and assists builders and developers in determining the feasibility of future projects.

Fast Forward to 2015; Siegfried’s great grandson Daniel Cronheim, ESQ, acts as the President of David Cronheim Mortgage Company and General Counsel. Daniel, having learned well from his predecessors, is active in many areas of the real estate industry. He has held the position of Chairman/ Borough of Watchung Zoning board for the past 21 years. He is a Director of the New Jersey State Bar Association Land Use Committee and a long time member of the Board of Directors of Monmouth Real Estate Investment Corp. (MNR), a publicly traded New York Stock Exchange real estate investment trust. Daniel also currently serves as Secretary of IREM New Jersey No. 1 Chapter.

The next generation to join the company is represented by Robert E. Cronheim, who joined the firm in 2010 and is now a licensed real estate broker. He is active in all phases of the company’s businesses, but devotes much of his time to development and property management.

For the past 118 years, The Cronheim’s full service commercial real estate firm continued to thrive and today is recognized as a leader in the industry. The family tradition begun in 1897 flows from generation to generation in a legacy of success and customer satisfaction.
